The Essentials
We have established a rapid response team with specialist equipment to deliver excellent levels of cleanliness within the BID area on a regular basis, and on demand from businesses within the area.
The clean team will augment the services provided by the City of Edinburgh Council to improve and enhance the environment. You will spot the clean team in their distinctive green uniforms.
The team of four operate between 0700 - 1830 hours, 7 days a week. Main responsibilities include:
- Removing litter from private land that is accessible to the public
- Co-ordinating deep cleaning and chewing gum removal
- Investigating ways to deal with graffiti and fly-posting in the area
They are equipped with radios and have contact with retail security staff and CCTV teams via which they can quickly reach emergency services.

Specialist Equipment
Using our Gum Buster specialised gum removal equipment, our teams are methodically working on all the streets in the BID, ridding the area of the unsightly mess left by discarded chewing gum.
The Essentials are also equipped with PDAs to record street problems and where appropriate these are reported directly to the City of Edinburgh Council for action.
